I have bought a new HP PC, it is

Onboard Video card
80gigI have a PCI Video card that is 64 Mb. I realize that PCI has a slow bus speed compared to AGP, so I was wondering, will I be boosting my system performance by using the 64Mb PCI video card or will it actually be slowing the system performance Thnx....
It depends on how new the Pci vid card is, but being 64mb I'd assume it's pretty new, just about any kind of vid card is better than onboard video. Onboard video is so cheesy it takes from your system ram even when not playing games, thus slowing system performance. I'm pretty sure you won't notice the difference in speed because of the bus's.

Intel's ones only take about 8mb from System RAM,and graphics memory is dyanmically allocated. I have 64mb (according to Dxdig) Intel Extreme Graphics and is fine and has good graphics quality for playing MS Flight Simulator and Simcity 4.

Actually with the amount of RAM you have and the quality of today's Intel accelerated onboard graphics, chances are it would be worse with the PCI card instead of better.
Easy enough to try it both ways, benchmark it and see for yourself (and I would be curious to know the results).

My P3 750MHZ 256M.B. RAM O/S WinMe came with i810 onboard graphics .A friend of mine brought over a 3D screen saver that he sid would help show my graphic abilities ,The 3D screen saver would not even work ,I found out the i810 had only 4M.B.'s of Mem. I wanted to upgrade with a graphic card and was dissappointed to find out my Biostar M6TWG motherboard had no AGP slot. I ended up installing a ATI RADEON 32M.B.SDR PCI Graphics card .This was a couple of years ago and ATI did not have the 64M.B.DDR PCI card out yet.All I can say is Iam very pleased with the performance of this card,it not only improved the look of my graphics it improved the over all performance of my PC !

I agree with Jimi_l...onboard graphics have gotten much better & on a newer board like your's, I'd bet the onboard would kick a PCI card's ass!

BTW, check your BIOS settings...you should be able to allocate different amounts of system RAM to the onboard graphics...usually, 4, 8, 16, 32, or even 64mb...have a look & experiment.

I think the later Intel graphics controller use 8mb from system ram, the rest (upto 64mb) is dyanmically allocated.
