Generally speaking is the PCI 2.2 cards backware compatable to the older PCI slots? My computer is six years old. The specificarion says it is compatable ACPI and PC99. The motherboard is DFI P5BV3+Rev. B+ Can't get any advice from DFI The PCI card is an Ethernet card and I want to upgrade to cable.

The only problem is one of bus mastering.Old computers rely on PCI slot 1 to get the bus mastering if required.If you fail to setup properly in any other PCI slot move it to slot one.You can also check in the bios for bus mastering.Good luck.

Try it. Some PCI 2.2 cards may not be compatible with older slots. Using an ethernet connection does not have that high a performance demand. Ab ISA card will work.
