may be kind of a dumb question, but... were there ever any PCI format dial-up modems made that were NOT 56kbps speed??

thanx

Yes, there were 28.8k & 33.6k PCI modems & a quick trip to google would have answered your question

I came across one 33.6 that was PCI. It didn't have a model number but had an Intel MDM 28PSVD chipset as well as a Lucent 16345 and ATT VALV34F chips. I uploaded the drivers here but that doesn't give any info about the modem itself.

Other than that one I don't recall ever seeing a PCI modem that wasn't 56K.

In 1997 I had a Rockwell 33.6 Modem.I never saw the difference in speed from a 56K.It was PCI.

I also haven't seen any difference in speed, maybe just below ~0.5K in favour of 56K standard. The line was digital, even the replaced 33.6K and 56K were both hardware and external (Acorps with Rockwell chip).
