ihave come to the conclusion it is a hardware problem
the only thing i have recentyl installed is this new sata hardrive but it worked fine for a bith after i installed
i have un pluged 1 harddrive and tried it it still freezes and stuff which i no is cos its trieying to do something? and if went to taskmanager it would say preocess 100% (if i could get tht far)
so anyway i was wonderin wether it could be a problem with the power supply , processor, motherboard.

Are you connected to a broadband internet connection? Do you have a hardware firewall? If you don't have a hardware firewall you should probably disconnect your computer from the internet until you install and get a software firewall up. You can be infected in virtually seconds if totally exposed.
I assume you are re-installing Windows because of this issue?

yes i have a firewall on the router and i do disconnect it from the internet when reinstalling. i also download antivirus software and pc firewalls on a different pc put on a memeory stick then on to the pc without connecting to the internet.
yes this is the reason i am reinstalling windows. i have done it before and it happe ended after a cople of days. this time i reinstalled on a different harddrive it happened when installing windoews. i have come to the conclusion that its a hardware priblem? im not sure

Give more specs for your system. Sizes and makes of harddrives. Optical drives, memory?
Why are you formatting both the harddrives prior to installing WinXP? How are you formatting the HDs?

Are you installing WinXP to the new SATA HD? Is the version of XP you are installing have service pack 2 incorporated onto the install CD? Do you need to install SATA drivers prior to installing WinXP? I don't know if your computer supports SATA drives natively.
