Just wondering if PC2700 DDR RAM will work in a motherboard which only supports up to PC2100 DDR RAM

Sure your 2700 stick will work in your MOBO. But your board will only recognize it at 2100 speeds. Also your memory is only as fast as your slowest stick.

Bummer, I just ordered a new EPoX mb and 512 of PC2700. I was hoping I could use my old 512 of PC2100 in this MB too...

Would I be better going 512 of PC2700, or putting it all in for 1gig total (that would degrade to 2100?)

Do you really need 1gb of RAM? Few people do.

performance wise, the 2700 would be a much better deal. If you need a lot of memory though, its better to have massive amounts of slower memory than speedy memory thats not enough. The only reason you would need a gig though is if you do a lot of video editing, photoshop stuff, or 3d applications. Otherwise, the 2700 sounds like a much better deal.
