Comment: Hi folks. Ive just upgraded my PC so I have put my old K7S5A mobo with Athlon XP 1800 in my dads PC for him. However, now when I go to shutdown (in Win98) the computer exits windows as it should and then the text appears "It is now safe to turn off your computer" as it always has, but the computer wont turn off like it used to, and I have to hold the power button in to turn it off. The power button connector must be correctly connected to the board cos Ive tried it in other positions and it doesnt work. Is there a setting in windows which I should be looking at for this? I never had this problem when I used the motherboard.

Reply: (edit)If you have to hold the power button down for the computer to turn off that probbably means the power supply has APM (Advanced Power Management). If you go to settings and then to power options you should click "Enable APM" I think thats what it is, Im currently on XP so this is by memory. Anyways if you enable it the computer will turn its self off. Mattwizz3 : )
