512MB Memory does not convey anything what-so-ever, go to:

They have a Scan Utility which will recommend the correct memory, ie type, voltage, CAS etcetera...

The memory you have may not be compatible with your motherboard. Use the online scan tool X86 linked in their response.

Did you try using only one stick at a time in both slots or just one?

With both sticks in:

Every other time it starts, but the screen goes black if i dont press myself into the BIOS. after exiting the screen goes blue after some thinking, with a message about how sad my computer feels....

With one stick in, doesnt matter which one, it starts.

With one stick in, either of the slots, it starts.

The blue screen thing has happened before, but thats ages ago.

Go to crucial.com and buy the RAM they recommend. Return the RAM you have now.
