Solved PC won't recognize new hard drive

Specs: vista, ASUS P5Q
PC won't assign drive letter to new 1tb hard drive,I can see it in bios and in device manager. The original hard drive was 500gb.

Sorry People, Many thanks for your input. It turned out that my new Western Digital 1tb hard drive was faulty, would not initialise.

If it's simply a drive letter issue, you can assign a drive letter to it yourself in Disk Management.

Thanks for the tip. Tried that, I have a funny feeling that I'm going to have to upgrade the bios to allow TB hard drives to be allowed.

If the bios sees it then the problem is not likely there.

In disk management you may need to partition and format the drive first. An OS won't assign a drive letter to an unpartitioned drive.
