OS: Linux
CPU/Ram: AMD something, 512MB
Product: Home built
Comment:

After I turn on my PC, the fans start up, the motherboard LED lights up, but there is no beep to indicate a successful POST and no error beeps. There is no video signal. I tried disconnecting the monitor/hard disk to see if I could force an error message but with no result.

For a couple of weeks prior to this, my computer occasionally froze for a second, then powered off.

Is my motherboard toast?

cheers
Rich

Might want to be looking at the PSU just for giggles.....Have you swapped video card and display out yet with known good working equipment ?

Keep the old stuff running

I would check to make shore all componits are not loose (ie ram,PC cards, wires). Then if still nothing pull all cards and drives from the mobo exp video then try again. If still nothing get a voltmeter and check psu for right output. If output is good the its eather cpu or mobo
