PC won't post with more than 1 stick of ram

Specs: Vista Home Premium 32 bit, Athlon 64x2 5000+ / 3GB
Awhile back I forgot to plug the power into my gfx card. It made a horrible screeching sound. After that my pc would beep at me so I figured I killed it.

Anyways I got messin with it again, and found that after clearing the cmos it will boot, but only if 1 stick of ram is in it? i've tried all 3 memory sticks and multiple different configurations. Bios will report the 1 stick correctly. If any more than 1 stick is in tho I just get beep codes. The beep codes are the same if there is no ram installed. I'm certain that the psu is fine and all that, and the gfx card is not installed, using onboard. Any ideas?

Also, the ram in question is ddr2 667 and the system ran fine before with the same memory. Not able to manually change anything in bios.

Not sure why lack of power to the graphics card would fry ram slots but I guess it is possible. Since you have tried each ram stick in the working slot you are left with only one alternative. Replace the motherboard.

You may be able to contact HP support here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...
And ask if all your Ram modules are compatible or not

Sorry you did what?

Also it may be best to just get 4x1Gig of Ram cards only
And just removing the 512s all together
