Hey Guys, Im having a problem booting my computer. Here's the problem, Occasionally (and becoming more frequent) when I turn my computer on, I hear the fans spin up but nothing else happens. The computer does not even get to POST. They Keyboard does not initialize. It happens most commonly after installing new software or updates that require my machine to restart. When I do a Hard Shutdown, the problem does not happen as often (but it still happens sometimes). I often have to unplug my notebook and remove the battery for about 3-5 minutes before it will work again.

Since it does not even POST, I do not think it is a software problem or a problem with the OS. So far I have run CHDISK on my Hard drive, Removed and reseated the Memory, Run Memtest with successful results (Memory is OK), and even flashed the BIOS, and I am still having the same problem. Does anybody have any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks in advance!

I would check the power supply first.

My first thought was power also. I wonder if you need a new battery. A defective battery can occasionally cause problems even when you are plugged into AC.

You can also try removing the battery and running off the AC cord. Then try wiggling the AC cord a little to see if it causes problems. The connector that the AC asapter cord plugs into, sometimes breaks loose from the motherboard.

Hi

I have been dealing with the exact same problem on my desktop. Up to now, I tested the RAM and changed video card. Did you ever solve your problem Badmanrc? If yes, what was it?

Thanks
