I built a computer and it was working just fine. Then it started freezing up after entering windows and finally didn't boot up at all. It was really weird. Now I've taken out everything non-essencial but I'm still unable to boot. I have a gigabyte 7vrxp mb with a AMI bios. I'm getting two very rapid beeps, then a set of 8 beeps and then much later 3 beeps. Anyone know what this might mean.

2 beeps Memory parity error A memory parity error has occurred in the first 64K of RAM. The RAM IC is probably bad . 8 beeps memory The system video adapter is missing or defective. 3 beeps memory Base 64K memory failure A memory failure has occurred in the first 64K of RAM. Go to yuor bios settings and try the FAIL SAFE DEFAULTS because something may have accidentally changed since the system ran fine - and since it stopped running fine. If that makes it work again, then you may have had your CAS latency set incorrectly. If memory is not 100 percent compatible with your chipset, you can also try to slow the RAM down to 100 Mhz. if your mobo allows for that. sometimes that helps too. No matter what, your problems are definitely related to your RAM.

Thanks a lot guys. That really helps. Let me ask you this. I have a duel bios, but all I found in the mb manual on it is the statement that if one bios fails the default bios kicks in. I'd like to just try the default bios and see what happens, how do I do that? I can't get into the bios setup screen because it doesn't even get that far booting up.
