It's broke! Possibly the CPU fan quit and the CPU fried. But that's just a guess.

Hi Lisa,
Where I would start anyway. If you have a multi-meter, and some knowledge of DC voltages from the power suppy, to check the power supply voltages. They would be found on the main connector from the power supply to the motherboard. There should be +/-5 volts and +/-12 volts. NOTE: Do not open power supply up under any conditions as there are lethal voltages inside. If you're not familiar with doing this maybe you have a friend or another option if you have another supply (preferably known good) is to "jump" that one in. Hope that helps. Let me know.

Dave

I thought that the cpu frying might have been the problem but when i opened it up and turned it on both the fans work fine but they are the only things that do work! Also i dont think there is any problem with the power supply cause as i say it does turn on and start the fans but nothing else. Am i looking at having to replace just the processor or both the processor and mobo?

It's not possible to determine if it's the motherboard or CPU without swapping. To make sure that it's one of those two, you can disconnect ALL the drivers (power and signal) and pull all the cards. If you don't get the initial POST beep you can feel pretty confident that it's either the motherboard or CPU.
