Hi guys, yesterday I got a new sound blaster audigy 2 zs sound card. I removed my old drivers and my old sb live card, inserted the audigy, now the computer wont boot. I have removed all the pci cards from the mainboard. Still doesnt boot, tried removing 2 sdram chips and tried each seperately, still no boot. Then i removed the cmos battery, the computer booted fine. then i shut it down and put the audigy back in along with other cards. the computer wouldnt boot! then i removed them all over again, took out cmos battery for 1 minute, now it wont boot even if all pci slots are free. All the fans spin and thats pretty much it. I have 4 lights in the back of my mainboard and according to them the computer is on System power on. I have run out of all the options. tried reconnecting all power supply connections,no luck.

my sys specs
AMD Athlon Xp cpu on MSI K7T Turbo 2 6330 v5 mobo,
Leadtek a250 geforce 4 ti 4400
512 mb pc133
sb audigy 2 zs 7.1
dvd rw and dvd rom drive
120 gig wd 8mb hd
450w power supply

Try going to the BIOS and finding a setting called "reset configuration data" Enable this setting for one boot cycle. This will allow the reallocation of the resources. Also, don't use the PCI slot adjacent to the AGP for the sound card.

Try this.
How to do a system repair.--Boot from the xp cd and go past the recovery console to the install menu. Select repair the existing installation. You won't lose any data except the xp updates. Unless you have a slipstream sp1 cd you will have to d/l sp1 and all subsequent updates. You MUST have at least SP1 installed and the updates for security reasons. Be sure the firewall and A/V is active before going online as you will be susceptible to sasser and msblaster. If you don't want SP2 go to autopatcher.com and d/l SP1 and subsequent updates.

Try disconnecting all the drives. The drives aren't needed to get a display.

Try reseating the motherboard power connector. Unfortunately you might have zapped something swapping cards, etc.

Try clearing the CMOS. There is a jumper on the Motherboard expressly for that purpose. Check your manual. If you can't find the jumper then remove the MBoard battery for a period of time. Perform either of these operations while the machine is unplugged from the wall.
