PC USB port won't charge Sanyo cell phone

November 4, 2011 at 14:56:08
Specs: Windows XP
When I hook by Sanyo Katana to my computer's USB port, the phone will not charge the battery. In this mode of usage, the computer attempts to configure the phone as a modem. However, using the same USB data cable, if I have the phone selected to act as an external (SSD) memory device, then the phone will automatically begin to charge.

Why won't the phone simply accept the charge when plugged into the USB port?

I think the manufacture designed that way.
If u are using it as modem use the charger.
Some phones starting charging as soon as u connect it to a pc using cable(without selecting any mode).

Some phones you have to set to a usb media or some such setting to get it to charge.

Lucky for you that info is in the owners manual. If you still don't get it fixed then return it to the store for more help.
