check the wireing for the power button, the mobo handbook shud tell you if there right or not,

Is it a new computer or did it work fine until it started to not power up.

This is not a new build it worked fine all these years. Only thing I did was change the fan which I think is the culprit. I am going to try and see how it goes with the old one.

I believe it is the motherboad that is bad! (I had same problem before).
Replace the mobo with one that supports your processor.

Let us know if you need any more help.

You didn't mention which fan you replaced, but if it was the HSF & now you're having these problems, you probably installed it wrong...the CPU is overheating, & the motherboard is shutting down to protect the CPU from burning up

The fan you are trying to use may not be providing the rpm readout the hardware monitoring chipset on your mboard can read, or expects.

Take a quick look at your motherboard. There are several capacitors right next to the CPU. Does it look like they're leaking? To tell; look for black crud either on top of or on the bottom. They will also possibly look deformed. Here is a link with more info. if so....

Sorry for the late response fellas - so I tried installing the old fan and the same thing happens. Everything (including the cpu fan, which I replaced) comes on for a second and then powers down itself. I'll check on those capacitors next to the CPU. Thanks again for all your help on this. Will update later
