PC starts up but wont go to windows

Hey guys :)

I have a serious problem I just encountered on my
laptop, an Acer Aspire 5720z... It won't boot!. I startup
the PC, i get to the white ACER screen where it says
"Press F2 to go to setup". If I wait and boot to OS,
nothing happens. If I press F2 to go to Setup, I'm
stuck at "Please Wait...".

I also hear a clicking sound from where my hard disk
is located. I admit in hitting my PC the othe day right
above where the HDD is located :(

So I kinda need a confirmation here.. Is my HDD
broken and in need of a replace, or is it something
else that's wrong.

-iFone, with an "F"

Well one thing is for sure your HDD got to be broken. Is it brand new? You better get it back to where you bought it for the warranty. But if you want to you can salvage some files by using a DOS or install it as a slave to a another Tower.

Hate to say this but i had a similar problem with my dell (after dropping it down stairs) it indeed turned out to be the hard drive and although my operating system and all my files were intact i could not access them all i could do was replace the hard drive and accept my losses, you could look at paying to get your files recovered but it is ridiculously expensive.

I'll guess I have to buy a new one then. Thanks for the replies
