Reply: (edit)Your post is not clear. Hence my quiz: Did the burner work OK before you applied the firmware. If so the likely culprit is that the firmware itself is wrecking havoc on your PC whenever you burn something. i_XpUser

Reply: (edit)IMO, firmware should NOT be messed with unless there is an absolute need. Shutting down is most likely caused by an overheating CPU...or possibly an overburdened power supply. FLATURIN - Hand-to-mouth goodness. It's good!

Reply: (edit)When you say "shuts down" do you mean it powers right off or goes into standby? DerekW

Reply: (edit)Burning, especially burning a DVD, places a larger load on your system than many other things do, and your system draws more current from your PS while burning. If your PS has inadequate capacity or is faulty, that extra load can cause the system to black screen and reboot. My brother has an Antec PS that did that. I tried another PS with his system and found he no longer had the problem. Failing or defective power supplies are common and can cause your symptoms. Check your PS.
