my PC has been having a strange issue where it turns off during intenstive tasks. I've tried two different power supplies, and two separate XP system files, so its not a software issue. Its not a heat issue either, the CPU and MB stay relatively cool. Also, the problem has just recently started; the system worked fine just a few weeks ago and nothing has been changed since then hardware speaking. Also, when switching between the 2 XP installs (which are on separate HDDs) my USB mouse will refuse to be recognized. In fact, no USB mouse will work until I restart a few times, (I've tried 2) even though my printer works in every USB port. Someone in this forum advised I try troubleshooting my IRQ settings, but I'm afraid I don't recognize the term. Could someone help me accompish this?

As you already tried another power supply I also think it may be the ram. It can also be a problem with the mobo or cpu but it's not very likely!
