Specs: Windows 8.1, 8gb 8 core
I had the same issue. I built my 8 core system fully loaded I know my beast intimately. I used the process of ellimination method and discovered after checking each component. I had 2 hardrive fails out of four. My boot ssd drive and spanned slave drive had shorted out and were bricked. I used the other two and now works great. I fix computers as a hobby and found that it's a component shorting. Your psu is saving your computer from getting fried. I have had other power off random by bad memory, defective video card, defective psu and bad fan. Even when psu appears to be working it can still delivery incorrect voltages.

Not sure what the purpose of this post is but I will bite. How exactly were your 2 drives shorted out?

After trying each component and hardware testing each individual component and taking days to check everything out. My experience its the psu, memory, ect. The last component to check was my hard drives and then I found out. My SSD drive and one of my spanned drives were non responsive when doing external testing, using equipment connected to my laptop. Tried another pc to confirm results. My intel SSD hd was expensive my spanned hd was a fugitsu both found faulty. Causing a short powering off pc. FYI when I tried on other pc one would recognize but super slow almost freezing my laptop and other pc. The other hard drive wouldn't recognize at all. Once both would unplugged sata and power, pc works great.

Ive posted this resolution because it worked. I work with PC in all ranges XP to Win 8.1 to MAC and Linux.
