PC not recognized new Lacie USB External HD

March 7, 2011 at 18:40:50
Specs: Windows XP
I plugged in my new lacie drive, and clicked on an icon called "start.exe." A prompt appeared, stating that in order for the lacie drive to work, it needed to be formatted. After clicking the buttons to format, a progress bar appeared saying that the drive was formatting, but the formatting abruptly stopped with a message that displayed saying that the formatting failed. Since then, my computer will not recognize the existence of this drive. Not Computer Management\Storage\Disk Management, not Windows Explorer, nothing - it's as if the Lacie drive doesn't exist. When I plug in unformatted lacie drives into the same USB port in the same computer, it recognizes them without any problem, and I can create and copy files onto any other Lacie drive without problems. How can I fix this time-sensitive problem???????????!!!!!!!!!!!

Return the drive for replacement.
