PC not booting up after installed another HDD

Specs: XP sp3, intel p4- RAM - 256 MB
Hi Engineers,
I am running xp sp3 in 40 GB HDD,
my configuration is below,

Pros Intel P4
Speed 2.8 Ghz
Ram 256 MB
MB - IBM 8175 1GQ

my problem is, Recently im trieng to install another 30 GB HDD into my system,
i istalled successfully, and detected in BIOS also, after all when i trieng to boot my pc it passes POST and all, but automatically shuts down while booting,
my master drive is 40 GB whic having XP os
slave is recently added 30 GB hdd.

Please help Engineers..

What IDE channel did you put the second drive on and did you make sure to configure the Master/Slave jumper to suit whatever device was already attached?

This 30gb drive is obviously not new. What was it's history? Was it pulled from a working system?
Are you certain BIOS isn't trying to boot the 30gb harddrive rather than your original 40 ?

sorry for late reply..
it is IDE 0, and ya i have took that 30 GB HDD from workin one. even I set the jumper settings as per the HDD requires and i went though HDD manul for jumper setting which is sticked on the device.

After bios setting I choosen the 40 GB hdd for booting by pressing F8.

even also problem remains..
