PC Monitor Blanks Out Randomly

I am writing this on my laptop since my monitor has decided to go on the blink. It will barely give 5 mins display before flicking blank, still showing power on. I have exhausted the obvious, power settings & the like & I dont recall making any significant system changes. Although it has given many years faithful service, manafactured 95, am I to assume it needs replacing? The model is a MicroTron 937G.
