pc is displaying non system disk/ disk error

Specs: Windows xp
when i turn my desktop on it gives the message above and asks me to press any key when ready. when I do it just repeats the same thing

Remove and disks (CD or floppy) or usb drives and try again, if still no go then the system is having a problem detecting your harddrive, or the boot files on it. Either way you need the harddrive checking by someone who knows what they are doing, especially if you have data on there you don't want to lose.

Enter bios and confirm if the hdd is recognized.
