Just got back from vacation, when i tried to start my computer for the first time in 5 weeks, nothing happened. After making sure the outlets work and still no response, i opened it up and manually tried the power switch. there is a green light on down in my computer, so i guesss something is getting power, but i still am not able to turn on and boot up. any ideas or help is appreciated.
thanks

did you have the computer unplugged from power while gone??
any lightning storms around ??
have you connected the power cord directly to the wall receptacle??
sounds like the power supply went on vacation, and didn't return.
what manual switch inside??
never ever seen a switch inside of a computer.

i had it plugged into a surge protector, but everything else that was plugged in there is working fine. ive tried it directly into the wall and still nothing

i just bought a new power source and tried it- still no luck...so i took my original PS and hooked it up to my roommates computer and it worked...any other ideas?

Had the same thing. In my case the wire which goes from power switch to motherboard was unplugged. Have a look at it.

try unplugging the whole thing then start to unplug the rest of the parts that are connected to the PS.
then plug everything back in again. try now. Also, does the cd rom drive lite up?
this happened to me just yesterday an did the exact same thing.
Windows XP Pro SP2
Intel P4 3.00GHz
512Mb Ram
128Mb ATI Radeon X200

Tizzy
I tried and still nothing. No light on the cd-rom drive either. There is a small green light on the mb that lights up when i plug everything in, but that's the only light.
