PC freezes when plugging in USB

Hi I have just had to reformat PC but when I try to install scanner & USB hub , my PC freezes when plugging in each device into USB. I have tried installing drivers first but same result. Both devices worked OK before I reformatted. Also I have connected up prtnter & modem to other USB sockets with no problem Any ideas ? Cheers in advance Saint

Might not help, but have you reinstalled the motherboard drivers? Do yourself a favor BACKUP!!!

If he is using Win Xp, those drivers are a non issue.
