hello, my computer is a Compaq Presario. When I press the power button to boot it up the orange loading light stays on but the green power light does not light up. The fan and the power supply fan runs, the cd drives boot up and then there are two clicks or sometimes one. i used to just hold the button again and wait for it to shut off then try again, i would keep doing it, but a couple days ago it just wouldnt turn on for the whole day. i need a quick response.

Chances are the powers supply is bad. How old is the PC?

The computer is probably 6 years old (I, know, I don't need criticism). The power supply I'm pretty sure it's the original that came with it. You think I need to buy a new Power supply?

Who said anything critical? The age of the PC is an important factor in determining the answer. I can't count the power supplies I changed when I managed a small network for a mortgage company. That's the cheapest way out when it's between a power supply and a mother board. I would take the chance.
