Comment:

I have a PC Chips M810LR mobo and having looked at the date of it, it is 3 or 4 years out of date. I'm not having any major problems but am considering flashing the bios to keep it up to date. I went onto the pcchips website but they only have the bios upgrade for the M810L, not the M810LR. Please can someone tell me if there is a difference between the two boards and would ones bios upgrade work with the other?
Also, i have a micro atx case with 2 hard drives, 1 floppy, 1 cd, 1 dvd, 1 dvd-rw, 2x256mb sdram, with an amd xp 2200+, and a pci video capture card (firewire,composite,etc)..i think i know the answer to this, but should i be buying a new psu (and bigger case!!) as soon as i can? i am currently using a 300w?
thank you, sorry about the messy post!

Personally, I'm "pro-flash"...others are of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. It's up to you...here's the BIOS you need, scroll down the list til you find the M810LR:

Pros - added support for larger HDDs, RAM, CPUs, fixes bugs from previous versions

Cons - if done incorrectly, the board becomes a doorstop...lol

There are a couple of different ways to do it. Personally, I create a boot floppy, then add the BIOS file & flash utility to the floppy. Then boot off the floppy & at the A:\, run the flash utility...from there, you should be able to follow what's on the screen. Make sure to save the old BIOS...I usually name it oldbios.bin (or oldbios.rom) depending on what the extension is for the BIOS file.

I forgot to give you the link to the flash utility...just scroll down to find the list...I think your's uses the AMI BIOS?
