PC can not start

Specs: Windows XP, 512Mb
Green light on motherboard lights up but otherwise no power. Tried a brand new power supply, same result. Does this indicated that the motherboard is damaged?

It could be something as simple as the switch on the front of the case - to test it you need to trace the pin connectors on the motherboard that the switch is attached to, remove the connecter and short the pins together. Obviously don't poke around in the case unless you're sure you know what you're doing.

Shorted out pins as per schematic of motherboard, but it does not switch on. Motherboard fried, or could you suggest more tests? Appreciate the follow up. Anker
