Specs: Windows Vista prem, 2.3 gig 3m
Trying to install WD30EZRX 3tb hard drive internally or on usb. Main PC board ECS MCP61PM-HM recognogizes it as 3TB but the sata bus sees 746.5GB as does usb. It is a HP Presario SR5710F desktop. Does same on my 2 laptops via usb. HP wont help becauuse it is a 2008
computer and WD just says send it back. Couldit be the BIOS?
Vay at http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/2... had the same problem with a 3TB Seagate.

The BIOS should recognize the HDD for what it is but Windows won't recognize the full capacity of the drive until it has been partitioned & formated properly. Has it been? And just so you know, the true capacity of a 3TB HDD is approx 2794GB.

I suggest you download the Western Digital utility to partition and format the drive. Vista has issues with partitions larger than 2TB. Divide the drive so you have less than 2TB on either partition.

Then update the nvidia 430 drivers to the latest version. Get the latest drivers from the link below.
