Solved pavillion dv6000 does not start up, gives message:disk reado

The hard drive is bad. The first thing u need to do is back up your data but since u can't boot from hard drive get Linux Slacko Puppy (live cd about 150MB) burn it to a disc and load it to a optical drive and boot from it. If the internal drive managed to be recognized attach external HDD to a USB port and start to back up files (simple copy & paste). Don't use the HDD until all the files are safe and u gonna need that HDD replaced. http://puppylinux.org/main/Download... You know the real meaning of peace only if you have been through the war.

Many thanks for your advise. This is the second WD drive that dies on me, after 6 months. The first one lasted about 4-5 years. I'm on my way to Micro Center. Thanks: Paul
