I want to place a password on my desktop so that when you start it up, you must have a password before the "startup" menu even begins it seqencing

i believe the type of password set up I am looking for is called power on (BIOS) password.

That would be set in cmos/bios setup. There may be a password option to enter bios setup and a separate one that would precede the OS loading. You may have to play around with it to figure it out.

If u mention your system specs(cpu,ram,video card,mobo)i can tell u where to look 4 this option in bios.
