Okay, not sure how clear this will be but bear with me.

I have ordered a server from dell with no OS included and (2) Two 20GB IDE Harddrives. But i have included in it an IDE Raid Controller so and have configured it to use Raid 1 (drive mirroring).

What i want to know is this. Can i (either while installing Win2k Server or afterwards) Partition the first hard drive to install the OS on a 2 Gig partition and the datafiles will go on the remainding GB, and because i am using RAID 1 that it will automatically do the same to the second Hard drive??

Since partitions are viewed as separate HD's and given unique drive letters, I believe you would have to partition each drive before installing OS. Example: first HD has 2GB as C: and 18GB as D:. Mirrored drive would still show as 20GB C: unless partitioned prior to OS installation. There would be no D: drive to mirror data storage. IMO, it would be safest to partition both HD's first, and identically. I may be wrong, but better safe than sorry. Let us know what works. Good luck.
