this number scares me now, here is what happened.under windows xp, i am trying to use partition magic pro v7 to merge D drive with E drive altogether. for D drive becomes a folder in E drive, due to a few kb's of bad clusters in E drive it fails at 50% of the process and it quits, then i immediately relaunching partition magic.
this time it says maybe there's been a power shortage which causes the last operation to fail. windows cannot regnoize if this partition is not recovered by partitionmagic, it asks to continue to search for recovery markers.
after a few minutes it says ERROR 50, i have no clue but either windows or dos can regnoize the partition now. there is no any overwrites to the partitions, but is there anything i can do? please help.

i deleted the empty drive D in hope partition magic will find the "border" more easily since all the data is still on drive E for sure. after running partition magic again to search for the recovery markers, it still shows up the "table error #50" message. please help!

Why are you wasting your time on a drive with bad sectors?
Get a replacement and transfer what data you can to it while there is still time.

part of the problem may be that you need to use PM 8 on XP NTFS partitions. Version 7 was for Windows 2000 NTFS partitions. There is a slight difference.
