Partition Harddrive

Hi. I would like to know why that is. I have a 80GB harddrive when I partition the harddrive it only shows 10775mb partitioned,like it is a smaller harddrive.Can anybody help me please. Thanks Horst

It would appear you didn't partition the rest of the drive. Go back into the software you used and partition the remainder of the drive.

What are you using to partition it? The original 98 fdisk command has a problem with drives larger than 64 gig and will see an 80 gig drive as approximately 10 gig. The fix for that is to use the updated fdisk command or the ME version.
But I wouldn't expect that XP would have that problem. So if you're intending to install XP you should use its own utilities.
The other possibility is the drive isn't properly identified in cmos/bios setup or there are already other partitions on the drive you're unaware of.

You're welcome. I'm glad it wasn't a major problem. Just remember to remove the 10 gig partition before your repartition.
