I am about to install a parallel PCI card in my Dell to hook a printer to. Do I need to install a driver for the card or does windows do it automatically? It's a Lava Computer MOKO L72.2 card. Thanx

It doesn't matter if you install it before or after.

If the card came with a driver CD install the drivers first, then shut down and install the card. It isnt very likely that windows will have the drivers concidering you are using 98SE.

My experience with adding hardware with WIN98SE was that you first install the hardware, THEN you boot to WIN98. It discovers that you have new hardware and it takes you through a dialog of driver installation. The exception is that some hardware manufacturers have you install their software first OR some have you cancel through the WIN98 driver dialog and run THEIR installation afterward.

That was hard, I just Googled the card and this was the first hit:
It says you isntall the card then load the drivers when the computer launches WINDOWS.

I have had a previous experience with Lava's PCI parallel port card. If you have a Creative SB16 sound card or any kind (SoundBlaster, Vibra, etc.)the Lava card will conflict with it and you will have no sound - Lava has known about that problem for a long time, but as of the last time I checked they have never fixed the problem. This may also apply if your sound card has SB16 emulation. You don't need any special drivers. Windows just loads another standard parallel port.

Hi, Parallel card should need no drivers. Win should already have it and set it up automatically. The address will probably be 03bc Hex. Luck, Jim
