paper jam in Hp 6p laserjet printer

Specs: Windows XP
How do I clear a paper jam at the back of my HP laserjet 6p printer? The paper is all crunched up around what looks like rollers and I can't see how to free it. Will I have to take off the top of the case? If so, how do I do this?
There is a green tab but this does not move much and does not help.

One way is to take it out piece by piece. Use a tweezer or needle nose pliers and tear the paper and wiggle the piece to free it. Remove the toner cartridge first. You can try cutting the paper but do not nick the rubber rollers.

Thank you. I was concerned that I would leave several samll bits inside but will try it.

10 mins later... I have done it - with difficulty, I must say and am now about to test it out. I had to use a skewer to lift the edges gently so that I could get hold of them with the tweezers too.:-)

1 min works!
Thanks so much.
