Hi:

This doesn't have a lot to do with computers, but its along the lines, so I thought I'd try it.

I just bought this converter, which allows me to play Sega Master games, on Sega Game Gear. I bought it from a seller in England, and I live in the US. When I tried the converter the games play, but there are white bars in the screen. I regret it now, but I only bought the English one because it was the best deal online. But now, I am realizing that it's probably PAL, and that's why it's like that.

So I have three questions:

1. Do the bars indicate a problem between PAL and NTSC signals.

2. Or, do theses symptons indicate the unit is defective?

3. Last, do you think it is possible for me to open it up, and solder some pins together to get a NTSC signal, or is that sort of setting something that needs to be pre-integrated into the unit?

Thanks,
Bill

i doubt its a PAL/NTSC problem, cuz you would not see/get anything but a black screen.

Since this is an adapter of sorts, it or your sega may be dirty, i'd try and clean the contacts first..

Otherwise, its probably defective, either way it should be returnable

Well, the Sega Game gear, is essentially, a portable Sega Master. The converter, just makes it so the big catridges can line up to the smaller cartridges of the Game Gear. It should be a fairly unsophisticated covnersion.

yeah, so this adapter shouldn't affect anything.

Also game gear is handheld, so I doubt it uses NTSC/PAL anyway. Usually LCD output to handhelds don't rely on this standard..this is for broadcast signals only and would apply at the most to console games

I am looking on ebay as I want to get a game gear myself. I have noticed that on Australian auctions it states that they are pal and the U.S. auctions that they are ntsc...... I want to purchase one but get the games from the U.S as there are more avaialble. I have tried looking on the let for information about the game gear but cant find anything...... I also want to use a tv tuner adaptor so I can view australian television broadcasts... will the ntsc thing affect me viewing australian tv?? I hope this made sence as I seem to blabble on.....
