xp allows you to set no pagefile. Been running over 6 months with said setting and everything is fast and stable. 2600+/768meg ram

Wanderer, you have more ram than me so I dont know if I can do that. Currrently in my task manager it says PF Usage 155MB then it says i have 501MB available of pshycical memory, so what do you think i should set the page file 100MB 50MB for some reason i dont wanna turn page file off but if somebody can convince me to do it go for it. Also sabertooth I dont know what you tried to tell me there. Thanks for the help

Wanderer,

Are you running DDR-RAM with no pagefile?

That seems to be a whole lot easier to do than trying to run SDRAM without a pagefile!

XP Pro set mine to 768Mb with 512 PC133 SDRAM physical installed. I just left it there. Same machine on Me is set at 512Mb swap file size.

Both work just fine.

I agree with the majority, LEAVE IT ALONE ;-)

Oh i have just one more question the other reason why I asked that question was because I was playing a game online i wanted to look at something on the net but i didnt want to close the game so i minimized the game and opened internet explorer and as i was surfing that bubble that says "virtual memory is running low" and blah blah popped up, so i opened up task manager and my PF was at around 400MB and i had around 300MB of free space so thats why i wanted to lower the page file.So should i still leave it at 192 or should i lower it?

There are a lot of different schools in this matter. I go for the one saying, with fixed size you have no defragmentation.
For recommendation of size look at this site:

Good luck

Sorry I should have read it better before I recommended it, my bad.
Anyway there are a lot of threads on this forum about recommended size of the page file, use the search facility in the top right corner.
I use 1.5 times RAM, in my case that gives 766MB
