I have a usb 2.0 external drive and I was wondering if I could put the pagefile on that instead of the internal drive? I know its possible, but is it wise? the external drive reads at 24 mbps and the internal is 52 mbps.

Along with the speed issue. The external drive is also prone to accidental disconnection. Do you want to see how horribly an OS can crash?

USB also relies on your CPU to drive it, so heavy paging on an external drive will soak additional CPU cycles.

So to answer your question of if it's wise, HECK NO! ;-)
