Just finished building a brand new computer that is pretty expensive, Christmas present for my little brother. I live in Houston, Texas.... My family is currrently living in Doha, Qatar.

My question is, from all of your supreme experience, what is the safest way to pack a computer for the plane trip?

It has to be semi easy to open up and reclose incase my luggage is searched.

Also beware that shipping may cause some cards to come un-seated. It might be wise to open it up and give it a good look under the hood BEFORE powering it up after the trip. No need in blowing out an expensive card before your brother can really enjoy his gift.

Hey Bob what is that? I never heard of it, do you do that at the airport?

Agreed opman.

I was thinking of buying one of those hard plastic/rubber suitcases, pulling out the divider and packing it in the middle.

The UPS store will pack, ship and insure it for about $50 with no monitor. Add another $50 for a 17in LCD.

There shipping containers are excellent and insurance is always a good thing.
