So, I am confused (not unusual for me). I have upgraded some components on my PC, such as PS to an Ultra 500W, 1GB of Crucial RAM, etc. I would like to upgrade my processor to a moderate 2.4GHz from a 1.7GHz P4. My mobo manual says under specs that it will support a P4 with 100 MHz FSB. Sandra-lite says I can upgrade to a 2.4+GHz proc. The one I am looking at says it has a 533MHz FSB. So this mobo will not support that proc? Also, what is the difference between a Willamette, Prescott, & a Northwood core P4? Thanks all.

Very interesting. Thanks for the lead. So, I see I could upgrade to a max 2.8MHz Northwood core at 100 MHz FSB which my mobo would support. What might be gained in overall performance or is this idea just a waste of cash?

Summary: I agree with the new mobo but when you do that you'll probably want to upgrade the RAM also. I'm guessing your running 100Mhgz FSB and you'll probably have to go to DDR ram with a P4 upgrade. ...
