What's wrong with onboard video and sound? you can disable them or just install a Video card and SOund card, then you gonna use the one that you installed instead of the onboard one.

Its not always so easy disabling video and sound on some boards. Besides, why would you want to pay for something that is not nearly as good as what you can plug in?
What board did you get itmdtr? I am building now and ordered a P4 board, but couldn't find it without onboard sound. Hope it disables cleanly!

I'm currently using an Asus P4T. (It doesn't have onboard sound or video) There's nothing wrong with it, I'm just looking at a socket 478 processor, among other things.

all p4 motherboards have sound integrated to them. i reccomnd buying one from a known vendor like asus or intel. for example, with intel motherboards you can easily disable the builtin sound from the BIOS.
