P4 computer keeps hanging

Specs: Windows XP
I'm trying to fix my friend's P4 computer which always either hangs on the XP loading screen or within minutes idle on desktop. The strange part is that I can leave the computer on for hours in BIOS and it would not hang. The results are the same when I boot it in safe mode.

I've already...
- tested the system with another working power supply
- tested the GF4 GPU in another system, and it works
- ran memtest86+ on the ram sticks, which came out error-free
- ran SeaTools on the Maxtor HDD, and it passed all tests

The system runs cool at 27-33C on a genuine XP Home Edition. I just formatted the HDD again, and it is still freezing up. The mouse and keyboard are the only external devices and they are plugged into the PS/2 slot.

Can anyone help me? I'm out of ideas whats wrong with it.

Try switching out the components one at a time with known working parts untill it stops freezing. I would try switching the memory and the hard drive out first.

I've already done that though, in my post I said I've tested all the components with programs in another computer.
