Comment:

I have a hp pavilion n5470 that I have taken apart and messed with on a regular basis. These Laptops normally come with a 1ghz chip (palomino core) but I put a 1.2 ghz on it (no overclocking, completely new processor).

Here's a description of what happens when the cpu overheats, it shuts down no warning "pooof!" and its off, but only when handling processor intensive tasks. This has been my experience with both the n5430 850mhz and the 5470 running with both a 1ghz/1.2ghz cpu. With both the n5430 and the 5470 with its regular chip this problem is overcomed by cleaning the fan. Is there anyplace that sells generic laptop fans that are compatible with these models, but are of a better rating than the stock ones (to be able to run @1.2 ghz)?

And a closer and more detailed look...

Problem #1:DIRT AND DEBRI

Is there anything I can use to "mesh" out dirt and debri without restricting air flow? I have tried fine screen but I don't think it's doing anything. The dust causes the fan to act up and therefore not cool.

Possible Solution: None yet.

Problem #2: FAN NOT COOLING ENOUGH

Is there a way to upgrade the fan and heatsink with something better and compatible or maybe even modding the one I already have. I have seen alot of useful stuff on tuxmobil.org but nothing really specific on my model. I was going to take the one from a ze1115(hp) that has a somewhat better (higher voltage rating) fan but the connections aren't the same.

Possible solution: One of those laptop coolers (I just want something less bulky and cheaper.)

sorry my laptop doesn't come with fans on which you can regulate the rpm, and even if it did-it still looks pretty wimpy!
