Overheating / CPU usage problem

Specs: Windows XP
Hi, i recently got problems with my computer (Freezes) i can move the mouse and everything but im not able to click or open anything. + i have to wait 30minutes or more before i can start the computer again. I checked and found my CPU temp. on 40-50 celsius at deskop mode and 80 celsius when i play a game ( ?! ) i havent got this problem before, i removed everything, cleaned it from dust but same problem still, and my CPU usage is on 100% just if i open a new window or playing... i have no idea what the problem is and i havent got this problem before ( I even got my side removed from the computer and got a big fan blowing air)

1. Remove CPU Cooler
2. Clean the existing layer of CPU Thermal compound
3. Apply a new, fresh layer of CPU Thermal compound


4. Install the CPU Cooler

Certain CPUs run hotter than others. For instance, it's not unusual for the P4 Prescott to run at the temps you mentioned.

You didn't list which CPU you have or anything about your cooling setup, so it's difficult to offer any solid solution. While the advice given by probfixer may help with your overheating issue, if you in fact have one, but it will not help the 100% usage issue.

The usage problem is *probably* caused by a program, possibly an infection (virus, trojan, spyware, malware, etc), that is sucking the life out of your system.

Have you checked Task Manager & identified what is hogging the CPU?
