Overclocking Cpu

I have a p4 2.8ghz 1 mb cache 800fsb cpu and a soyo SY-P4VTE motherboard ---http://www.soyogroup.com/products/proddesc.php?id=291 i tried overclocking my cpu to 3.2 but it gave me some error when i tried to boot my pc, even when i try to overclock at 2.9 or 3 ghz i get same error. Can some one please tell me if i can overclock or im doing soenthing wrong.

The multiplier on the P4 is locked...in your case, it's set at 14x. Overclocking is done by raising the FSB. If possible, set the AGP speed at 66MHz & disable any Spread Spectrum settings...then begin jacking up the FSB a little (5MHz) at a time, testing for stability after each change. Hopefully you have PC3200 RAM? Try to run your RAM at the same speed as the FSB. There may be a CPU:DRAM ratio setting...keep it at 1:1

Summary: Your multiplier is locked by the CPU. You will have to try and overclock raising the speed of the front side bus (FSB). If your RAM and video card are good quality and your motherboard will allow it...
