Outlook 2007 takes 10 minutes to receive mail

Microsoft Office outlook 2007

Specs: Windows 7
My recently installed Outlook 2007 can take over 10 minutes to receive an email. I was using G-Mail and their format before I switched to Outlook. I still have my G-Mail format operational and when I send myself an e-mail I get it within a couple seconds to my G-Mail but takes 10+ minutes to arrive in my Outlook. When I do get mail in my Outlook they seem to come in batches, like they were all held up & then were dumped all at once. I have a year old high end Dell with tons of memory & fast processor. I am NOT real computer literate so I can not explore much on my own without fear of really messing things up. Just got 5 e-mails at once, one sent 18 minutes ago. PLEASE HELP.

I don't know why it would take that long, but you should try Windows Live Mail 2011. Since Win 7 doesn't have a built in email client this was designed for it.

I have learned that by clicking on the send/receive icon that it will speed up the delivery of any mail in syber space. Why doesn't it deliver ASAP all of the time without prompting?
