Outer CD part fell off

Comment:

The outer piece of my CD player fell off; the piece that you click the button in order to make the CD player open and such. My Cd player still works fine, but when i simply push/hook the outer piece on again, my CD player just wont close; no matter how i push it shut it just comes back out again. When i take the outer piece off again, the CD player works fine.
This does not seem to be a huge problem, but i would still like to have my outer piece on, so how can i hook it back on so that i can close my CD player properly?

Seems some dimension has gone off. If when you place the cover on it doesn't work correctly, there is no adjustment to fix that.

Time for a new drive or leave the cover off.

"The outer piece of my CD player fell off".

I doubt the piece just fell off. If it was knocked off then it may be broken.

That said, many drives are sold with two colors of faces. That means they are easy to change by the user. You just need to look at the parts.
From your description it seems the errant part is the drive facing. Either way, both are generally removable. You may need to remove the drive from the case if it is the drive front. The tray fronts usually just slide on from the top. You need to support the tray or you will break it.

One other hint. Try installing the drive facing while the computer is off and you have manually ejected the tray. Look at the metal parts for notches that plastic protrusions snap into.
