optiplex gx110 tower case removal?

I've been given two dell optiplex gx110 mid-towers to use at home. the problem is... I can't figure out how to open it! there's a seam on the top as if both halves pull off to the sides like a clam shell. i've tried pulling the halves sideways, back, and even lifting from the base like gull-wing doors. before i break out the crowbar, does anyone know how this thing works?
